State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak gave this information at a press conference after the meeting held at the conference center of BTRC at Agargaon in the capital on Sunday morning. Meanwhile, the Secretary of Posts and Telecommunications Dr. Muhammad Mushfiqur Rahman, BTRC Chairman Engineer Mohiuddin Ahmed were present.
In a press conference, the Minister of State for Posts and Telecommunications, Zunaid Ahmed Palak said, after being closed since July 17, the mobile 4G network will be launched from 3 pm today. At the same time, the customers who will connect to the internet on their mobile phones will get 5GB bonus data for three days.

In response to various questions of journalists, the state minister said that Bangladesh has never been isolated from the Internet. Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) did not have internet. Bangladesh has never been cut off from the internet for a moment. I have kept Facebook active to give real information. We do not advocate closing any app. We didn't close any apps. Advocates of human rights in the world, Morals have done this in their country. The countries of America, Europe and Asia who are criticizing Bangladesh will be taken into consideration if they advise them to consider their own faults and crimes. Bangladesh is one of the most technologically liberal countries in the world. Still, we are following a liberal policy.
The state minister urged the entrepreneurs to become digital entrepreneurs by creating their own domains and platforms instead of becoming entrepreneurs of F-commerce, Twitter commerce, X commerce, Instagram commerce. This will keep them in business forever. You will get to expand the business in the country and abroad.
Calling for social responsibility and responsibility towards Deeptech companies, Palak said, letters have been sent to Facebook, TikTok and other social media yesterday. They have been given July 30 to respond to the letter. Palak said that this letter does not comply with the constitution and laws of the country, they have deleted very few of the contents that we have asked to delete. Although the pages of extremists are open, 50 pages supported by Awami League have been taken down.
All the apps will be running after the mobile internet is turned on. But he did not say anything clear about whether apps like Facebook, WhatsApp and TikTok will be free on mobile internet. However, commenting that the use of VPN is risky, Palak said that the representatives of Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp will come to BTRC on July 31. After the meeting with them, it will be informed about the launch of social media.
There had been protests and violence around the quota reform movement in government jobs. The government imposed a curfew from midnight on July 19, which is still in force with occasional relaxations. The country's mobile internet services were shut down as the 4G network was shut down from midnight on July 17 before the curfew. The next day on July 18, the broadband internet connection was also stopped from 9:30 PM. It left the entire country without internet.
After being without internet for five days, internet connection was provided to some institutions on a limited basis on July 23 night. The next day, on July 24, broadband internet was launched across the country; However, internet service is still not as normal as it used to be. Mobile internet is still off.
